Katie Brennan founded the firm in 2017 after more than 15 years of experience in larger firms and as Chief IP Counsel at an international telecommunications company. She began legal practice in Chicago with the intellectual property firm of Brinks Gilson & Lione, where she focused on trademark prosecution, litigation, and licensing. Katie then joined firm client, Ameritech Corp., a Fortune 50 technology and telecommunications company. At Ameritech (present day AT&T Inc.), she managed a worldwide IP portfolio, handled litigation and managed prosecution, in addition to counseling all business units on IP strategy, brand usage, and IP aspects of mergers and acquisitions.

Katie left Ameritech seven years later, after its merger with SBC Communications, and founded an international vacation experience business in Lucca, Italy. After 12 years, she resumed her legal work in Chicago with a boutique IP firm, before founding her own firm, The Brennan Law Group, in 2017.

Katie is admitted to practice in the state of Illinois and the U.S. District Court (ND-IL), and is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center.
